For 12 years, the Collaborative Research Center 814 – Additive Manufacturing at FAU was dedicated to additive manufacturing with polymers and metals. The numerous innovations and findings from the CRC’s diverse research areas have now been summarized in a book: In the open access book “Progress in Powder Based Additive Manufacturing”, the editors Prof. Dietmar Drummer from the Institute of Polymer Technology and Prof. Michael Schmidt from the Institute of Photonic Technologies as spokesperson of the CRC present central results.

The focus here is on powder and beam-based additive manufacturing. In addition to innovations in process development, advances in material characterization and in macroscopic modelling and geometric testing methods are presented in detail. The book also offers new insights into the future of additive manufacturing technologies.

The book is now available online free of charge and invites readers to take an in-depth look at the current state and future of AM research.
