Information about the person

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dietmar Drummer was born in 1971 in Forchheim, is married and has 3 children. After completing his studies in manufacturing technology with a focus on plastics technology and higher mechanics, he worked as a scientific assistant at the Institute of Polymer Technology (LKT) in the field of multi-component injection molding and high-filled plastics from 1997 to 2004. There, he most recently worked as chief engineer and deputy of the then professor, Prof. em. Dr.-Ing. Dr. H. c. Gottfried W. Ehrenstein. He finally promoted to the topic “Verarbeitung und Eigenschaften kunststoffgebundener Dauermagnete” in October 2004 and received an award of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg for his excellent work in March of the following year. Subsequently, Prof. Drummer moved into the industrial sector. Since 2004, he has been responsible for the technology management of Oechsler AG and was responsible for the areas of technology management, process development, technical offerings, material testing, marketing and PR as well as patents. At the same time, he was lecturer at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. From April 2004 to October 2007, he held lectures in the field of plastic technology on the topic of “Introduction to Production Engineering” and then on “Quality Assurance in Injection Molding”. Since 1 May 2009, he has been the successor of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ernst Schmachtenberg and became owner of the Institute of Polymer Technology (LKT) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
