The LKT participated in the 13th edition of the “International Conference on Voice Physiology and Biomechanics” (ICVPB) that took place in Erlangen from 22. – 26.07.2024.

Within the workshop “Engineering and Analytics of Polymer Implants“, the participants obtained insights into the fundamentals of polymer processing and their influence on material and implant properties, as well as into current research regarding new material combinations and manufacturing processes at the LKT. Additionally, methods for analyzing the chemical and physical properties of plastic-based implants were presented. In this context, the manufacturing and testing of polymer-based laryngeal models was demonstrated in a hands-on manner in the laboratories of the LKT.

In his talk “Highly dynamic rotational molding of thin-walled larynx models for fluid dynamic modeling“, Samuel Schlicht presented an innovative, at the LKT developed process for the manufacturing of synthetic laryngeal models using silicones.

We would like to thank the participants for their interest in our activities as well as Michael Döllinger and Stefan Kniesburges for organizing this conference.
