Information about the person

Tim A. Osswald was born in 1958 in Bogotá, Colombia. He is married and has two children. After completing his studies in mechanical engineering at the School of Mines and Technology in South Dakota, he has been working in the field of plastic processing at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Subsequently, he worked for two and a half years as an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship at the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) in Aachen. Currently, he is a professor of mechanical engineering and director of the Polymer Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Prof. Osswald has received numerous awards, such as the National Science Foundation’s Young Investigator Award or the VDI-K Dr. Richard-Escales Prize. In 2006 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He is a co-founder of the Madison Group and Director of the Technical Advisory Board of SIMTEC Silicone Parts.
